Role Description

  • Our Corporate Bank Technology team is a global team of 3000 Engineers (and growing) across 30 countries. The primary businesses that we support within Corporate Bank are Cash Management, Securities Services, Trade Finance and Trust & Agency Services. CB Technology support these businesses through CIO aligned teams and also by 'horizontals' such as Client Connectivity, Surveillance and Regulatory, Infrastructure, Architecture, Production and Risk & Control.
  • In addition to providing cash management services like Payments to our customers, Corporate Bank is the payment service provider for the entire Deutsche Bank organization. As such, we have been tasked with ensuring technology and security risk for payments is within risk tolerance bank wide.
  • The Risk and Control Team ensures the Bank's information control priorities are effectively implemented across Corporate Bank Technology (CB Tech). The team offers dedicated support for each Chief Information Officer (CIO) business line, advisory services for control responses and program management services for broad control uplifts.
  • The team's mission is to reduce the organization's technology risk exposure by implementing key bank controls, ensuring appropriate and timely resolution of audit issues and participating in the Bank's design of control implementations. Therefore, your role would be integral in supporting the front-line management in identifying, assessing/measuring risks, identifying remediation actions and monitoring risks.
  • We are looking for a specialist to join the newly formed Central Risk Governance function within CB Tech Risk and Control to support governance and oversight of IT and IS Risk and Control risk remediation Book of Work.
  • This involves in summary, facilitating clear scope definition of control programs, facilitating training of the control landscape where required, ensuring commitment for proactive remediation of IT/IS risk across CIO aligned delivery teams, monitoring and reporting progress, escalating risks/issues/blockers for resolution. Hands-on technical data analysis and recommending control process improvements where required to help ensure overall ensuring technology and security controls are implemented effectively and sustainably.

Your Key Responsibilities
As Technical Program Lead for T.Ai.RA (Trailblazing Artificial Intelligence and Remediation Automation), you will partner with Ai Ignitors, CIO aligned Agile delivery teams, Control Uplift SMEs and CRG Program Leadership to ensure TAIRA technical priorities and use cases are delivered per defined targets.

Technical Strategy & Architecture Ownership

  • Ensuring clear scope definition of TAIRA use cases and program priorities, facilitating additional training to wider team where required
  • Define and maintain the end-to-end technical architecture for TAIRA, covering data ingestion, AI/ML pipelines, automation frameworks, cloud/on-prem integration and JIRA workflow orchestration.
  • Ensure AI, automation and integration designs comply with DB engineering standards, architectural guardrails, security controls and risk policies.
  • Provide technical leadership on platform design, reference architectures, solution patterns and reusable components for CRG and TAIRA.

Use Case Qualification & Solution Design

  • Work with SMEs, control owners and CRG leadership to qualify technical feasibility, scope solution boundaries and define architecture for AI and automation use cases.
  • Translate business and risk requirements into clear technical specifications, data requirements, models, pipelines and automation flows.
  • Facilitate technical design reviews, ensuring traceability, clarity and alignment with TAIRA's prioritized backlog.

Engineering & Delivery Oversight

  • Guide engineering teams (AI Ignitors, Agile delivery teams, automation developers) in delivering robust solutions according to the defined architecture and quality standards.
  • Provide oversight on build, test, deployment and handover processes across DEV, UAT and Production environments (on-prem and GCP).
  • Establish and enforce CI/CD, testing, observability, lineage and documentation standards across TAIRA solutions.

Data Architecture, Quality & Integration

  • Ensure stable, accurate and governed data flows into TAIRA platforms from 50+ CRG sources, APIs, structured files and cloud environments.
  • Oversee data lineage, quality rules, validation checks and remediation of data issues impacting AI models or automation reliability.
  • Validate integration of JIRA data, compliance metrics and risk/control information into dashboards and AI engines.

AI/Automation Reliability, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all AI/automation solutions include explainability, audit trails, evidence capture and RAI (Responsible AI) controls.
  • Evaluate and mitigate operational risks, architectural gaps, scalability issues and security vulnerabilities.
  • Own adherence to risk remediation timelines, change management and production readiness standards.

Technical Governance & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Provide transparent progress reporting, flag risks/blockers early and support leadership decision-making.
  • Collaborate with policy owners, control owners and architecture forums to ensure continuous improvement of tooling and processes.
  • Lead technical workshops, architecture walkthroughs and training sessions to uplift TAIRA and CRG engineering maturity.

Your Skills And Experience
Technical Leadership & Architecture:

  • Must have financial services preferably Banking and technical leadership experience
  • 12–15+ years of hands-on experience in technology architecture, solution design or technical leadership roles within banking or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong expertise in designing and governing enterprise-grade architectures spanning on-prem, cloud (preferably GCP), data pipelines, APIs, automation frameworks and AI/ML components.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business, risk and control requirements into scalable, secure and compliant technical solutions
  • Demonstrable experience conducting architecture reviews, defining standards, managing technical debt and sustaining platform reliability and performance. Demonstrable familiarity with general Patching concepts and challenges in critical technologies (Java, Oracle, UNIX, etc.), PVG process and CVE advisory process for vulnerabilities
  • Demonstrable familiarity on Identity and Access Management, Vulnerability management/Cyber Hygiene best practices, penetration testing

AI, Automation & Engineering

  • Working knowledge of AI/ML fundamentals, model lifecycle management, explainability, auditability and Responsible AI principles.
  • Experience with automation platforms, orchestration tools or workflow engines (e.g., Ansible, Python automation, service APIs, CI/CD tooling).
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts: data ingestion, lineage, quality validation, metadata management and schema design
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices (CI/CD, version control, testing, observability, documentation frameworks).
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment practicing Scrum or Kanban (Lean Agile Practitioner) and using JIRA preferred.
