Job Title: General Accountant

Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Job Type: Full-Time

Experience: 2–5 years

Reports To: Finance Manager / Accounting Head

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial records in compliance with applicable laws and company policies. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general accounting functions including journal entries, ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain records for audits and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial discrepancies.
  • Support statutory compliance including GST, TDS, and Income Tax filings.
  • Assist in closing monthly and annual books of accounts.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IND AS, IFRS).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (CA Inter/MBA Finance is a plus).
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or shared service environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Tally ERP, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in ERP systems (Tally,SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Prior experience in handling audits or working with Big 4 firms.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
