Role Overview

The Manager – Import & Export will oversee and manage all aspects of international logistics, customs clearance, and shipment coordination. The role demands close liaison with Custom House Agents (CHA), freight forwarders, customs officials, and airlines to ensure the timely clearance and delivery of shipments. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of import/export documentation, vendor development, and regulatory compliance, along with proven experience in logistics operations and relationship management within CHA or freight forwarding environments.

Key Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1. Coordination with Custom House Agents (CHA)

• Liaise with CHA partners for import/export documentation, customs filing, and shipment clearance.
• Ensure accurate preparation and submission of Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, and related documents.
• Track shipments and ensure timely clearance and delivery to designated sites.

2. Timely Clearance of Shipments

• Oversee end-to-end shipment handling, ensuring minimal demurrage and detention charges.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, port authorities, and customs officials for swift clearance.
• Monitor shipment timelines and escalate potential delays proactively.

3. Relationship Management with Customs & Regulatory Authorities

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with customs officials and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with DGFT, CBIC, WPC, and Ministry of Defence import/export guidelines.
• Resolve customs-related queries, documentation discrepancies, or valuation challenges.

4. Vendor Development & Management

• Identify and onboard reliable vendors, freight forwarders, and CHA partners.
• Negotiate service terms, cost structures, and SLAs for efficiency and cost optimization.
• Evaluate vendor performance regularly and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.

5. Relationship Management with Airlines & Logistics Partners

• Maintain strong relationships with airlines, cargo handlers, and logistics service providers.
• Coordinate for freight booking, shipment tracking, and insurance coverage.
• Optimize air freight and shipping routes to improve cost-effectiveness and delivery timelines.
