Position: Solar Module Mounting Structure Design & Quality Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced professional to join our team as a Solar Module Mounting Structure Design & Quality Engineer. The role combines structural design expertise with strong quality assurance skills. The incumbent will design, analyze, and optimize solar module mounting systems for ground-mounted, rooftop, and floating solar power plants, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and third-party quality agencies to ensure structurally sound, cost-effective, and durable mounting solutions that are delivered on time. The role also extends to related structural products, such as Metal Crash Barriers.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering:

  • Lead the design and quality assurance of solar module mounting structures.
  • Review solar MMS and Metal Crash Barrier drawings, coordinating with manufacturer and buyer technical teams.
  • Develop designs and drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and relevant structural design software.
  • Prepare and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and manufacturing drawings.
  • Supervise drafting teams to ensure timely and accurate technical documentation.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Inspect raw materials to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards before fabrication.
  • Oversee fabrication processes (slitting, cutting, roll forming, welding, drilling, hot-dip galvanizing) to maintain quality compliance.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of finished components against QAP and tolerance sheets.
  • Verify galvanization, coating, and corrosion protection methods in line with EPC/customer specifications.
  • Document inspections, identify non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and installation teams to resolve quality issues and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with IS, ASTM, ISO, and project-specific standards.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain complete inspection records, test reports, certification files, and dispatch documentation for full traceability.

Technical Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in design, quality control, or inspection of steel/metal fabrication, preferably in solar MMS and metal crash barriers.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design, welding standards, and fabrication processes.
  • Expertise in corrosion protection methods (galvanization, powder coating, surface treatments).
  • Skilled in the use of measuring instruments (calipers, levels, welding gauges, DFT meters).
  • Strong grasp of quality assurance procedures, safety standards, and industry certifications.
  • Proficient documentation, reporting, and problem-solving skills.

Educational Qualification

  • B.Tech/BE in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
  • M.Tech in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks (mandatory).
  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
