A Planning Manager in India's leather industry is responsible for developing and overseeing production schedules to ensure timely delivery of leather goods by coordinating with various departments like procurement, production, and logistics. Key duties include forecasting demand, optimizing resource allocation, monitoring production, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and preparing performance reports. 

Key responsibilities

Production Planning and Scheduling

: Create, manage, and adjust production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels to ensure timely product delivery.

Cross-Departmental Coordination

: Liaise with procurement, quality control, maintenance, and logistics departments to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow from material to finished product.

·
Resource Optimization

: Optimize manufacturing processes, allocate resources (manpower, machinery), and manage inventory levels to maximize efficiency.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

: Monitor production progress, analyze data, and prepare reports on performance, delays, and areas for improvement for management.

Quality and Compliance

: Ensure all production activities adhere to safety standards, quality control procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

: Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma, to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

Material and Inventory Management

: Work with the warehouse to ensure the right materials are available in the optimal quantity and quality, and maintain accurate records of material usage.

New Product Introduction

: Coordinate with the research and development or design departments to facilitate the smooth transition of new products into the production process.
