Job Description – Security Supervisor (School)

Reporting to: Admin Manager

Role Summary

The Security Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure and disciplined school environment for students, staff, parents and visitors. The role involves supervising the security team, implementing school security protocols, managing access control, monitoring surveillance systems, coordinating emergency preparedness and ensuring compliance with school safety policies and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise, deploy and manage security guards across school premises.
• Conduct daily briefings and duty allocations.
• Train security staff on school security policies, child safety norms s per POCSO act, emergency procedures and visitor management systems. (VMS)
• Ensure discipline, attendance and performance standards of the security team as per school policy and processes.

2. Campus Safety & Access Control

• Manage entry and exit of students, staff, parents, visitors and vendors.
• Ensure proper maintenance of visitor registers, ID cards, vehicle passes and gate logs.
• Conduct regular campus patrols to prevent unauthorized access and ensure student safety.
• Monitor sensitive areas such as school gates, playgrounds, corridors, parking areas and school buses.
• Control trespassing of people and animals in the school premises.

3. Incident & Emergency Management

• Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms or safety breaches.
• Investigate incidents and take immediate corrective action.
• Coordinate with school management, local police, fire brigade and emergency services when required.
• Support the implementation of safety drills such as fire, evacuation and disaster response.

4. Disaster Management & Mock Drills

• Form emergency response teams as per school requirements.
• Conduct and document regular mock drills. (fire, earthquake, evacuation, etc.)
• Train staff and students on emergency preparedness and safety procedures.
• Ensure readiness of emergency exits, assembly points and safety signage.
• Coordinate with local authorities (police, fire brigade, medical services)

5. Traffic & Student Movement Management

• Manage smooth and safe arrival and dispersal of students.
• Coordinate traffic movement at school gates during peak hours.
• Ensure adherence to traffic and safety rules for parents, buses and vendors.
• Prevent congestion and ensure student safety during entry and exit times.

6. Surveillance & Security Systems

• Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access control systems and communication equipment.
• Ensure all security equipment is functional and report faults for timely maintenance.
• Maintain data confidentiality and secure handling of surveillance records.

7. Policy Implementation & Compliance

• Implement and enforce school security policies and standard operating procedures. (SOPs)
• Conduct risk assessments and suggest preventive security measures.
• Ensure compliance with CBSE Board safety guidelines and child protection norms.

8. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily security logs and gate records.
• Prepare incident reports, drill reports and safety compliance records.
• Submit periodic security status reports to Admin Manager.
• Maintain confidentiality of security and student-related information.

9. Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with school administration, transport team.
• Assist during school events, examinations, parent-teacher meetings and special functions.
• Communicate effectively with parents or visitors when required, maintaining professionalism.
• Communicate with the management on upgradation of security systems and processes as when deemed necessary.

Skills & Qualifications

• Graduate in any stream. Diploma in Security Management.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in security services, preferably in schools, institutions or large campuses.
• Ex-Serviceman / Retired Police / Home Guard / Civil Defense

background is preferred.

• Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of CCTV systems, alarms, access control and basic IT operations.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, alertness and commitment to student safety.
• Willingness to work in shifts, weekends, or remain on-call during emergencies.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹40, ₹50,000.00 per month
