Role Description

The
Foreign Trade Expert
will be responsible for driving international market development, export promotion, and foreign buyer engagement for MSMEs. The role focuses on identifying global opportunities, facilitating export readiness, developing buyer-seller linkages, and supporting MSMEs to enter and expand in international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive global market research to identify export opportunities for targeted MSME products.
  • Analyse HS codes, tariff and non-tariff barriers, import regulations, and international market trends.
  • Build and maintain a database of international buyers, importers, distributors, and trade partners.
  • Support planning and execution of Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets (RBSMs) and international outreach campaigns.
  • Guide MSMEs on export procedures, documentation, certifications, packaging, labeling, and logistics requirements.
  • Assist in creating export market strategies, sector export guides, and detailed buyer profiles.
  • Facilitate B2B matchmaking and ensure high-quality engagement between global buyers and MSME sellers.
  • Coordinate with embassies, trade bodies, and export promotion councils for buyer mobilisation.
  • Prepare regular analytical reports, country briefs, and market entry recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • MBA in International Business / Marketing
  • OR
    Postgraduate degree in Engineering / Economics / Trade with specialization in foreign trade or global markets.
  • Minimum
    8–12 years
    of experience in:
  • International trade or export-import operations
  • Market research and buyer development
  • Export promotion, trade fairs, or B2B matchmaking
  • Working with MSMEs, EPCs, or international trade organisations
  • Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS, customs procedures, export logistics, and global compliance requirements.
