Job Title: Accountant

Location: Vinmeen ICSE School, Parvathipuram, Nagercoil

Reports to: CEO / Principal

Position Overview:

The Accountant is responsible for managing the school's financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting records, compliance with statutory requirements, and timely reporting. The role supports school management in maintaining financial stability, transparency, and effective resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts (cash, bank, and journal entries) using accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely fee collection and maintain student fee records.
  • Reconcile daily fee collections with bank deposits and issue receipts.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments.

2. Budgeting & Reporting

  • Assist in preparing the annual school budget and monitor budgetary controls.
  • Generate financial reports for management review (income, expenditure, variance reports).
  • Provide cash flow projections to ensure smooth operations.

3. Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (GST, TDS, PF, ESI, Income Tax).
  • Prepare documents for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain accurate records for inspections by education boards or government authorities.

4. Payroll Management

  • Process monthly salaries, allowances, deductions, and statutory contributions.
  • Maintain staff payroll records and issue pay34slips.
  • Ensure timely payment of statutory liabilities.

5. Vendor & Expense Management

  • Verify vendor invoices, prepare payment vouchers, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain petty cash records and reconcile periodically.
  • Negotiate with vendors for best pricing and timely payments.

6. Coordination & Support

  • Liaise with the administration, HR, and academic departments for financial needs.
  • Support management in financial decision-making by providing accurate data.
  • Assist in implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
