DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Engineering – Technical Advisor Technology plays a key role in shaping the future of manufacturing at Cummins. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and deploying advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, with a focus on scalability and cost-effectiveness across the India Region and alignment with global best practices. The position provides technical leadership, mentors teams, drives high-impact initiatives, and ensures safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
The work requires semi-regular on-site presence at assigned manufacturing locations to deliver on operational objectives, though not sustained daily attendance.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Roadmap & Deployment: Assess, define, and deploy advanced manufacturing technologies across the India region for scalable and cost-effective adoption across Business Units (BUs).
- Project Leadership: Lead high-impact projects using data-driven decision-making to achieve measurable cost savings and operational improvements in collaboration with plants and BUs.
- Safety Initiatives: Partner with HSE teams to drive technical projects related to SAFETY 6, machine safety, and below-the-hook devices.
- Technical Consultation: Provide expert-level consultation, guidance, and solutions on complex manufacturing challenges across Cummins sites.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manage projects in a cross-functional environment, leading matrixed and dotted-line teams to deliver results.
- Operations Excellence: Champion ME/IE processes within Operations Excellence; identify performance gaps with plant ME leaders and implement corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive functional excellence by standardizing processes, institutionalizing continuous improvement, and collaborating with the Global Manufacturing team.
- Supplier Collaboration: Partner with suppliers to evaluate and implement new technologies that improve KPIs in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Capability Development: Lead the development of regional Manufacturing Engineering capabilities through structured programs, coaching, and mentoring.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Influence and align with internal and external stakeholders and business leaders to drive strategic initiatives.
- Applications Expertise: Provide subject matter expertise in MES, 3DX, Industrial Engineering, Line Designing, Assembly & Engine Testing & Calibration, and PUMA applications.

Technical Skills
- Strategic assessment and deployment of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.
- Standardization, deployment, and continuous improvement of manufacturing/testing applications (PUMA, MES, Ignition).
- Manufacturing Capex and Opex planning and optimization.
- Industrial Engineering, Line Designing, Assembly systems, and Engine calibration/testing.
- Strong understanding of safety systems, machine safety, and regulatory compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Professional licensing may be required to comply with export control or sanction regulations.
Experience
- Extensive experience in manufacturing engineering with proven success in leading large-scale projects or multiple projects.
- Strong background in advanced manufacturing technology, industrial engineering, and process optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing technical teams.
