The
Director of Legal Operations – India
will lead, streamline, and optimize all legal processes, workflows, and compliance activities within the Indian operations. This role is strategic, operational, and managerial, ensuring that the legal function supports business objectives efficiently while maintaining full compliance with Indian regulations. This role will serve as the operational backbone for the legal team, driving process improvements, policy implementation, contract lifecycle management, and risk mitigation across all business units.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Operations & Process Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of legal processes, including contract lifecycle, compliance tracking, and regulatory filings.
  • Implement systems and workflows for efficient review, approval, and storage of contracts, NDAs, and legal documents.
  • Establish KPIs, metrics, and dashboards to track legal operational efficiency and performance.

2. Contract Management & Automation

  • Standardize and optimize contract templates, processes, and playbooks for sales, partnerships, vendor agreements, and SaaS contracts.
  • Lead automation initiatives for contract review, approval, and tracking to reduce turnaround time and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with business teams to ensure contracts meet compliance, risk, and regulatory requirements.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Operations

  • Ensure Indian operations comply with local laws including Companies Act, IT Act, telecom regulations, data privacy (DPDP/IT Act), POSH, and labor laws.
  • Implement workflows for monitoring compliance obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to operationalize statutory and regulatory requirements.

4. Risk Management & Policy Implementation

  • Identify operational and legal risks and implement processes to mitigate exposure.
  • Draft, roll out, and monitor internal policies and SOPs for legal compliance, corporate governance, and employee conduct.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across all Indian operations.

5. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a team of legal operations specialists and coordinators.
  • Partner with legal, HR, finance, and business teams to ensure smooth operational support and timely resolution of legal matters.
  • Facilitate communication between the India legal team and global legal counterparts for cross-border matters.

6. Technology & Systems Optimization

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage legal tech tools for document management, contract automation, e-signature, compliance tracking, and workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure integration of legal systems with CRM, ERP, and business operations platforms.

7. Training & Awareness Programs

  • Conduct training sessions for employees on legal compliance, POSH, workplace ethics, and internal policies.
  • Promote awareness of legal obligations, regulatory changes, and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized Indian university; advanced degree (LLM or MBA Legal/Corporate) preferred.
  • Minimum 10–12 years of experience in legal operations, corporate law, or compliance, preferably in SaaS, technology, or communications sectors.
  • Experience in contract lifecycle management, process optimization, compliance workflows, and risk mitigation.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian corporate law, IT/telecom regulations, employment law, POSH, and data privacy regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with legal technology platforms, contract automation, and workflow management tools.
