Responsibilities

Strategic leadership: Develop and implement the long-term engineering strategy for the facility, identifying opportunities for technological upgrades, process enhancements, and plant expansion to ensure competitiveness and operational excellence. 



Capital project management: Lead the entire portfolio of capital projects from conception to completion. This includes budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. 



Team management: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of managers and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. 



Technical governance: Serve as the final authority on all major engineering decisions. Ensure that all designs, processes, and projects comply with national and international engineering standards, as well as internal safety and environmental protocols. 



Stakeholder engagement: Act as a key technical liaison with senior leadership, corporate R&D, external technology partners, and regulatory bodies. 



Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Metallurgical). A Master's degree or an MBA is required. 



Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in an engineering role within a heavy industry or manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position managing a team of managers. Direct experience in the copper industry is a strong advantage. 



Skills: Exceptional strategic planning and project portfolio management skills. Deep expertise in a relevant engineering discipline. Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. 



Certifications: A Professional Engineering (PE) license or an advanced project management certification (e.g., PMP) is highly desirable.
