Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced New Product Development Engineer for Hard Luggage to lead and execute the end-to-end development of luggage products. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and industry experts to bring high-quality, functional, and market-driven products to life. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes, with expertise in plastics, plastic processing, and sheet metal components.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. New Product Development: Drive the design, development, and implementation of new hard luggage products from concept to commercialization.

  2. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product development and alignment with business goals.

  3. Documentation & Costing: Prepare Technical documents like Product Specifications, Bill of materials, Product cost estimations, CAPEX estimations and Approval reports for new product launches.

  4. Should be able to cost out products and manage profit margins with a backup of strong financial and budgeting skills.

  5. Shall be responsible for making & sending Samples of the customized product to the customers as per the requirement within the agreed timeline.

  6. Overseeing the production process, including tooling, prototyping, and mass production, to ensure that luggage products meet quality and delivery requirements.

  7. Managing the budget and timelines for NPD to ensure on-time delivery and profitability.

  8. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including product safety and environmental standards.

  9. Maintain & storage of Legacy data of All existing Products & New Products .

  10. Project Management: Develop and manage Product launch roadmaps & timelines, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective product launches.

  11. Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with Suppliers, customers, and industry experts to optimize product performance and manufacturability.

  12. Quality & Testing: Oversee design validation, performance testing, and quality assurance to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer expectations.

Market Analysis & Product Strategy: Monitor market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscapes to continuously improve and expand the product portfolio

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in industrial design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Experience: years in new product development, preferably in Hard luggage, travel goods, or consumer durable industries.

  3. Technical Skills:

  4. Expertise in CAD modelling (Creo, AutoCAD, or similar software).

  5. Strong understanding of Mechanical engineering principles and their application in luggage design & development.
  6. Knowledge of plastics, plastic moulding processes, and sheet metal fabrication.
  7. Experience with product testing, validation, and compliance.
  8. Proficiency in MS Projects / Gantt Pro for Gantt chart preparation.

  9. Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially MS Excel (expert level).

  10. Soft Skills:

  11. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  12. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  13. Ability to manage projects independently and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  14. Experience with project management tools.
  15. Familiarity with market trends and consumer needs in the luggage industry.
