Consultant - Fabric Tenant Administrator

Team background

The Fabric Tenant Administrator will report into the Advisory team's core tech team; Advisory tech. Advisory Tech delivers a portfolio of technology transformation projects for the Advisory business. The Advisory Tech portfolio comprises 64 projects, most of which relate to the KPMG Insight Platform (KIP). KIP is Advisory's cloud-based engagement platform, used for engagement data storage, security confirmations, user management, team and client data sharing, and analytics on client engagement data. 

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable team member with a strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight, configuration, management, and optimisation of our Fabric tenant, playing a critical role in cross function collaboration and the on-going delivery of Microsoft Fabric. This role is suited to an engineer with a broad range of skills and knowledge across Fabric and Azure and provides an exciting opportunity to work at the core of the Fabric platform in a fast-paced enterprise setting.

Main Responsibilities

• Tenant Configuration and Management: Oversee the controls and management of tenant settings, day-to-day administration, and ongoing optimisation of the Microsoft Fabric tenant, ensuring that the environment aligns with organisational requirements and best practices in a constantly evolving platform. 
• Access Control and User Lifecycle Management: Monitor and control user and group access in line with a defined security model, oversee the assignment of roles and permissions across multiple tenants (Production, UAT, DEV).
• Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies, investigate tenant activity for suspicious behaviour, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, and organisational standards. 
• Resource and Capacity Planning: Monitor and manage resource usage, troubleshoot and advise on Capacity performance to the wider technical team, plan for future needs to ensure optimal tenant performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary point of contact for tenant-related incidents. Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues affecting tenant performance, connectivity, or security. Escalate complex problems as needed and provide clear updates to stakeholders.
• Policy and Best Practice Development: Develop, document, and refine procedures, guidelines, and best practices for tenant usage, governance, and administration. 
• Monitoring and Reporting: Utilise monitoring tools and dashboards to track tenant health, system updates, and usage trends. Generate reports for IT leadership and business stakeholders when required.
• Collaboration: Work closely with multiple team across KPMG including IT, security, data engineering, and business teams to align tenant configuration with organisational goals, project requirements, and regulatory demands.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with platform updates, emerging best practices, and new features. Proactively recommend and implement improvements to maximise tenant efficiency and user satisfaction.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Technical Proficiency: Broad understanding and proven experience with Microsoft Fabric/Power BI, Azure and associated services.
• Security Awareness: Knowledge of security frameworks, access control models, and tenant isolation mechanisms.
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting abilities, capable of methodically investigating and resolving technical issues in complex environments.
• Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences and deliver concise documentation and reports.
• Organisation and Prioritisation: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, balancing day-to-day operations with long-term strategic projects.
• Collaboration: Proven experience working in cross-functional teams and with external partners or vendors.
• Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new technologies and stay current in a rapidly evolving field.
