Job Purpose

The
Operations Manager
– Cargo will be responsible for end-to-end cargo operations, ensuring timely dispatch, route efficiency, cost control, fleet coordination, and customer satisfaction across India operations.

Key Responsibilities

1.
Cargo & Fleet Operations


• Oversee daily cargo booking, loading, dispatch, transit, and delivery operations.


• Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) and minimal transit delays.


• Monitor vehicle movement, route planning, and load optimization.


• Coordinate with drivers, supervisors, and branch teams for smooth execution.

2. Hub & Branch Coordination


• Manage operations across multiple hubs, godowns, and branch locations.


• Ensure proper manpower deployment (loaders, supervisors, drivers).


• Maintain discipline, attendance, and shift planning at hubs.

3. Process & SOP Management


• Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cargo handling, documentation, and safety.


• Reduce cargo damage, pilferage, and loss through process controls.


• Ensure proper documentation: LR, POD, billing inputs, and dispatch records.

4. Customer Service & Issue Resolution


• Handle escalations related to delivery delays, damages, missing cargo, and customer complaints.


• Coordinate with sales and accounts teams for service-related clarifications.


• Maintain strong relationships with key customers and corporate accounts.

5. Cost Control & Efficiency


• Control operational costs related to fuel, manpower, vehicle utilization, and handling expenses.


• Track vehicle productivity, trip profitability, and idle time.


• Suggest improvements for route optimization and cost savings.

6. Compliance & Safety


• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, permits, and statutory requirements.


• Monitor driver behavior, vehicle safety checks, and accident control measures.


• Coordinate insurance claims in case of damages or accidents.

7. Reporting & MIS


• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports:


• Dispatch vs delivery


• Vehicle utilization


• Pending PODs


• Customer complaints


• Operational cost analysis


• Share insights with management for decision-making.

Qualifications


• Graduate (preferred: Operations, Logistics, or Business Management)


• Certification in Logistics / Supply Chain (added advantage)

• 5– 10 years of experience in cargo, transport, or logistics operations


• Prior experience handling multi-location or hub-based operations PAN India.**
