Job description

Research Associate- Client Advisory:

The Primary Responsibility of a research associate is to study and input the company's fundamental data from the company's annual report or other financial reports into MA developed spreadsheet formats.

This involves:

  1. Comprehensive input and analysis of 15 years of financial data or more, if available.

  2. Understanding the company's fundamentals and the true economic profits rather than reported earnings which can be subsequently used for valuation with reasonable certainty/conviction.

  3. Focus on quality of earnings including accounting policy choices/changes and the impact of same on reported earnings.

  4. Analysis of research screen in terms of number classification, ratio analysis and quality grading etc.

  5. Be able to highlight glaring risks vis-à-vis Quality of Earnings and questionable Corporate Governance.

  6. Basic understanding of valuation methodology and business/industry analysis.

Some other key pointers encompassing the responsibility of research associate (Client Servicing) are:

  1. Analysis of Mutual Funds in the propriety framework.

  2. Analysis of fixed income instruments in the propriety framework.

  3. Support Analysts/Investment Advisors in Client Servicing responsibilities.

  4. Client Communication and Database Management

  5. Automation related efforts

Skills:

Must have:

  1. Accounting and Ratio Analysis; Familiarity with Annual Reports;

  2. Comfortable working (or taking lead) in Excel and other MS Office Suites.

  3. Working understanding of Database environment.

Good to have:

1.An eye for detail; Liking for Numbers.

2.Good Communication Skills (Verbal and Written) and Confidence for client interactions.

3.Professional development in terms of investment related readings and thought processes of leading investors globally is encouraged.

4.Sincerity and efficiency are required with demonstration of interest and willingness to learn.
