Job Description

Instana is an application performance monitoring (APM) tool developed by IBM. It provides observability for microservices, containers, Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud environments. Admin roles in Instana involve managing users, access controls, configurations, integrations, and ensuring the observability stack is running smoothly.

Instana Admin Roles & Responsibilities:

Instana doesn't have rigid "Admin" titles defined internally, but in practice, admin responsibilities often fall under one of these roles:

  • Platform/Observability Admin
  • DevOps Engineer
  • Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
  • IT Operations/Monitoring Specialist

Instana Admin Tools/Interfaces

  • Instana UI (Web App): Core control panel for all admin functions.
  • Instana CLI (optional): For scripting certain operations.
  • Instana APIs: Automate management of users, configurations, and alerts.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Some environments manage Instana config (e.g., agent config) via Terraform or Helm.
