Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the woven garment merchandising function by handling buyer accounts, ensuring timely execution of orders, driving cost negotiations, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining strong relationships with buyers to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Buyer Management & Communication

  2. Act as the primary point of contact for international and domestic buyers.

  3. Understand buyer requirements, product specifications, quality standards, and timelines.

  4. Handle product development, costing, sampling, and approvals.

  5. Order Execution & Coordination

  6. Plan and monitor the entire order process from sampling to shipment.

  7. Coordinate with sourcing, production, quality, logistics, and other departments to ensure smooth order flow.

  8. Track order status, resolve issues, and ensure on-time delivery.

  9. Costing & Negotiation

  10. Prepare detailed cost sheets and negotiate prices with buyers.

  11. Monitor cost efficiency while maintaining product quality and delivery timelines.

  12. Team Management

  13. Lead and mentor a team of merchandisers/executives.

  14. Allocate responsibilities, review progress, and ensure team productivity.

  15. Product Development

  16. Work with design and sampling teams to develop new products based on buyer trends and seasonal requirements.

  17. Suggest fabric and trims to buyers, keeping in mind cost and lead-time constraints.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of woven fabrics & garment manufacturing process.
  • Excellent buyer communication & negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability in costing, T&A (Time & Action) planning, and order follow-up.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and time management abilities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate / Postgraduate in Textile/Fashion/Apparel Merchandising or related field.
  • 812 years of experience in garment merchandising, with significant exposure to woven garments.
  • Prior experience in managing international buyer accounts and leading a merchandising team.
