JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the job is to conduct R&D activities and transferring results, in order to identify and solve complex technical problems and carry out ground breaking research in core business and related areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Identifies emerging fields for research
- Identifies research fields to help current businesses
- Investigates the feasibility of applying a variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential new inventions and products. Develops evaluation framework and evaluates identified emerging fields
- Designs, implements and executes scientific R&D projects in collaboration with research Institutes and organizations. Engages with research institutes and organizations to explore fields of collaborative research
- Uses professional concepts and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult scientific problems in imaginative ways. Reviews technical aspects of proposed solutions
- Provides required technical inputs to related to Strategy and Economics
- Communicates regularly with GGSR Technical/ Operations Marketing teams to identify existing emerging issues
- Contributes as a team member on development projects carrying out assigned responsibilities in a timely, diligent, safe, and professional manner.
- Directly supervises a team of Engineers and Scientists
- Provides scientific and technical guidance and training to team members.
- Participates in development of patent applications
- Makes important contributions to scientific literature and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS & BACKGROUND
Educational Qualifications:
The candidate should possess a B.E. or B. Tech degree in Chemical Engineering. Candidates with M.E. M. Tech PhD in Chemical Engineering will be given preference. The candidate should have acquired all graduate and postgraduate degrees from a reputed college university with a minimum of 60% marks at each level.
Experience:
The candidate should have at least 5-10 years of experience in R&D of a continuous process industries like Refineries, Petrochemical Plants, and Fertilizer Plants etc. The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in leading a team of more than two engineers scientists.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Communication: Listen attentively, communicate effectively, respond to requests quickly and respectfully, handle confidential information with necessary discretion
- Relationship Management: Build relationships with all stakeholders, maintain respect for all positions wherever interaction is required, maintain maturity in interpersonal relations, work effectively in multi-disciplinary and diverse teams
- Problem Solving: Grasp new concepts quickly, structure, analyze, collect and collate data to help solve complex problems, adapt change with new circumstances data priorities
- Multi-Tasking: Work on multiple parallel problems with clarity while adhering to strict deadlines without compromising on quality
- Self-Motivation: Work with minimal supervision without compromising on results
- Global Outlook: Think strategically and look at the big picture, learn key business functions and their inter-linkages
- Integrity: Meet promises as much of the time as possible, communicate in advance with alternate arrangements in case a promise cannot be met, maintain necessary confidentiality
- Leadership: Be able to negotiate with and gain the cooperation of superiors, peers and subordinates in various work situations.
- Domain Competence: Maintains broad knowledge of state of the art principles and theory.
- Competent in the use of various simulation software and design software.
