Senior Accountant

About the Role

Kickstart Football Club is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Finance & Accounts professional to manage end-to-end accounting, compliance, and financial reporting for the organization. The role goes beyond bookkeeping - you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, statutory compliance, and timely reporting while also partnering with different departments to support business decisions. As part of a growing sports organization, you will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, driving efficiency, and enabling the club's long-term sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Ledger Management

• Maintain the general ledger, ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.

• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepayments etc.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly (bank, inter‑company, fixed assets, other ledger reconciliations).

• Manage fixed assets register, depreciation schedules, assets additions / disposals.

Month / Quarter / Year‑End Closing

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process.

• Prepare financial statements: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements.

• Do variance / flux analysis (budget vs actual, prior periods etc.).

Statutory & Tax Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Indian Accounting Standards

• Prepare and file indirect taxes (GST, etc.), and direct taxes (TDS, corporate tax) as per local regulations.

• Prepare statutory returns, respond to tax authority queries.

• Support audits (statutory, internal, external).

Management Reporting & Business Partnering

• Generate MIS reports for management, e.g., monthly financial summaries, KPIs, forecasts, budgets.

• Partner with other departments (Operations, HR, Legal etc.) to collect financial data / resolve discrepancies.

• Assist in budgeting process and periodic re-forecasting.

Cash, Banking & Treasury

• Oversee bank reconciliations.

• Monitor cash flows and prepare projections.

• Ensure payments and receipts are processed correctly; manage inter‑company transactions.

Process Improvements & Controls

• Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes, automation, ERP usage.

• Enforce / maintain internal controls.

• Ensure documentation of accounting policies, procedures.

Team / Stakeholder Management

• Mentor / guide junior accountants if he/she has any.

• Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, regulatory bodies.

• Assist in external & internal audits; provide required data and explanations.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce / Finance / Accounting (B.Com, BBA Finance etc.). CA / CMA / Part‑qualified CA or full CA is a plus.

Experience

• Typically
  4‑8 years
  of relevant accounting / finance experience, depending on seniority. Experience in Indian accounting environment, statutory compliance etc.
• Experience working with ERP systems (MS EXCEL , Tally, etc.).

Technical Skills

• Good understanding of GST, TDS, direct/indirect taxes.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, advanced functions etc.).
• Knowledge of financial systems / accounting software.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail.
• Good communication skills (verbal & written), ability to explain financial data to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Time management, ability to handle multiple deadlines / month‑end pressure.
• Problem-solving mind-set; ability to suggest improvements.
