Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Copy Editor (STM Books) where your passion for precision and clarity will shine In this role, you will be the guardian of quality, ensuring that all scientific, technical, and medical manuscripts meet the highest standards of accuracy and readability. You will collaborate closely with authors, researchers, and other editorial staff to refine content, enhance communication, and uphold our commitment to excellence in publishing.

What you'll do

  • Proofread and copy edit manuscripts for clarity, coherence, and consistency while adhering to established style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style and AP style.
  • Conduct thorough fact-checking to verify the accuracy of scientific data and references within the texts.
  • Collaborate with authors to provide constructive feedback on their writing, enhancing both content quality and overall engagement.
  • Perform in-depth research to support editorial decisions and ensure that all information presented is current and relevant.
  • Assist in proposal writing for new projects, showcasing your ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Engage in technical writing tasks as needed, translating complex concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Maintain meticulous records of edits and revisions to track changes throughout the editorial process.
  • Foster effective communication with team members to streamline workflows and enhance project outcomes.

Basic qualifications

  • Strong command of proofreading techniques with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven experience in copy editing and editing across various formats, particularly in scientific or technical fields.
