An Accountant is responsible for preparing, examining, and managing financial records, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and providing insights to support business decisions. This role involves bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, reconciliations, and collaborating with other departments or external auditors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Profit & Loss / Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement).
  • Perform bank reconciliations, reconcile vendor/customer statements, and ensure discrepancies are resolved timely. Indeed+1
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist in budget planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Prepare and file tax returns; ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS or local standards). Velents+2Careers360+2
  • Support internal and external audits; prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries.
  • Monitor cash flows; manage petty cash or other minor funds; ensure proper controls. Velents+1
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvements, and risk mitigation. Velents+1
  • Maintain fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and ensure accurate accounting for assets. Indeed+1
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and internal policies (e.g. internal controls, local laws).
