Position Overview:

The UI/UX Researcher is responsible for conducting user research and gathering insights to inform the design and development of user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) within an organization. The UI/UX Researcher collaborates with designers, product managers, and development teams to ensure that user needs, behaviors, and preferences are incorporated into the design process.

Responsibilities:

User Research Planning:

  • Define research objectives and create research plans to address user experience and design questions.
  • Identify appropriate research methods, such as surveys, interviews, usability testing, and analytics analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and prioritize research activities.

User Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect user data and feedback.
  • Analyze user behavior, needs, and preferences to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Utilize data analysis techniques, such as persona creation, journey mapping, and usability metrics, to inform design decisions.

Usability Testing and Evaluation:

  • Design and conduct usability tests to evaluate prototypes, wireframes, and UI/UX designs.
  • Recruit participants, create test scripts, and moderate testing sessions.
  • Collect and analyze usability metrics and feedback to identify areas for improvement.

User Persona and User Journey Development:

  • Develop user personas based on research findings to represent different user types and their characteristics.
  • Create user journey maps to visualize and understand the user experience across various touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure user personas and journey maps are integrated into the design process.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and developers to incorporate user insights into the design process.
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and the importance of user research within the organization.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX research.
  • Continuously improve research methodologies and tools to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of user research activities.
  • Drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the UI/UX team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, human-computer interaction, design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Researcher or similar role, conducting user research for digital products or services.
  • Strong knowledge of user research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
  • Proficiency in conducting user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with UX design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
  • Experience with usability testing tools, such as UserTesting or Optimal Workshop, and data analysis tools like Excel or SPSS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to derive insights from user data.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD is a plus.
