Role Overview

As a Guidewire Rulebook Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business rules using the Guidewire Rules Engine. Your primary work will involve working closely with business analysts and stakeholders to convert business logic into executable rules within a Guidewire InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, or BillingCenter). You will work on rule configuration, Gosu scripting, integration, and testing to deliver scalable, auditable, and maintainable rule-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders (underwriting, product, claims, etc.) to gather and understand business rules and decision logic.
  • Translate business requirements into Guidewire rule definitions and rule flows.
  • Develop and maintain business rules using Guidewires Rules Engine / Rulebook or Guidewire configuration layer (underwriting rules, validation rules, prospect rules, etc.).
  • Write custom rule logic in Gosu when required.
  • Create and manage decision tables, rule flows, rule sets, and rule conditions.
  • Integrate rules with other system components: data model, workflows, UI (PCFs), product model, and external systems if needed.
  • Design and maintain the rule metadata (typelists, entities) needed to support rules.
  • Build unit tests for rules (e.g., using GUnit or other frameworks) to ensure correctness and coverage.
  • Participate in system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for rule-based functionality.
