Role Overview

The role at ALAN Electronic Systems Private Limited is part of the company's strategic vision to build a comprehensive product portfolio. The Product Manager - Design and Development will serve as a key driver in leading the execution of ALAN's medical devices roadmap by managing cross-functional teams, aligning vendor ecosystems, and ensuring product delivery with strategic precision.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the medical devices domain, especially in field, customer-facing, and R&D-driven roles. A deep technical understanding of electronic medical devices and their application is essential. The individual must possess a strong grasp of the indigenous product development process and integrated system design, along with the capability to manage development teams through structured planning, execution, and continuous improvement cycles.

While the individual is not expected to carry out technical tasks directly, they are fully responsible for driving the entire product lifecycle with ownership-from ideation and prototyping, to validation, compliance, production integration, and post-market feedback-through effective team leadership and vendor collaboration. Key Responsibilities

The Product Manager will be responsible for converting on-ground insights and clinical requirements into clear product specifications and guiding the internal Design & Development (DnD) and allied teams toward achieving them. The role demands timely planning and execution of each stage of the product lifecycle, with an unwavering focus on technical accuracy, quality standards, and cost alignment.

The candidate will be expected to:

• Lead the full lifecycle management of medical devices, particularly those used in surgical and OT settings.
• Develop and manage a structured roadmap, collaborating with design, testing, sourcing, and production teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and regulation-compliant delivery.
• Integrate field feedback and evolving market expectations into product specifications and lifecycle priorities.
• Establish and manage strategic vendor relationships across India and key global regions, focusing on electromechanical and embedded sub-systems.
• Coordinate product testing, validation, and compliance efforts with global and domestic standards including US FDA, EU CE, CDSCO, ISO 13485, and MDR.
• Drive documentation, audits, traceability, and version control protocols as part of compliant development practice.
• Track competitor benchmarks and continuously feed insights into product and innovation strategy.

This role demands strong cross-functional leadership, technical clarity, vendor intelligence, and delivery-oriented planning.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of diverse experience in the medical device industry, across product development, field support, technical marketing, or R&D roles.
• Proven track record of managing full lifecycle product development for electronic medical devices in the Indian or global context.
• Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks including US FDA, EU CE, CDSCO, ISO 13485, and Medical Device Rules (MDR).
• Strong experience in collaborating with internal development teams and external vendors across geographies.
• Ability to translate clinical or surgical needs into technically feasible, validated products.
