Are you a seasoned procurement professional with deep expertise in the Category Management? Synergy is looking for a strategic 
Category Manager
 to join our team in 
Mumbai
.

This is a pivotal role where you will be instrumental in shaping our category strategy, driving significant cost savings, and building strong, strategic supplier partnerships. You will manage a substantial spend portfolio and have a direct impact on our operational efficiency and bottom line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual category strategies and procurement plans for a key spend category.
  • Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing, from supplier identification and RFQ management to high-stakes negotiations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing our processes, policies, and technological infrastructure.
  • Manage a multi-million dollar budget, ensuring adherence and identifying opportunities for financial optimization.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of excellence within the category management team.

We Are Looking For Someone With:

  • 8-9 years of experience in category management within the shipping industry, managing a spend of 
    $50-60 million USD
    .
  • A strong technical background (e.g., Engineering) combined with category management experience in equipment maintenance/repair is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in building complex cost models (TCO/TVO, Make vs. Buy) and a proven track record of delivering year-on-year cost deflation.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and a partnership-oriented approach to supplier relationships.
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
