The Action Institute of BMT and Cellular Therapy (AIBCT) at Action Cancer Hospital, New Delhi, invites applications for a 2-year Fellowship in BMT and Transplant Immunology, designed for motivated clinicians aiming to build careers in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, with clear understanding of Transplant and Tumour Immunology. The fellowship offers an unparalleled opportunity to train in one of Indias most advanced and research-driven BMT units.

About the Institute

AIBCT houses 23 state-of-the-art Class 1000 clean rooms dedicated to Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT), alongside cGMP laboratories equipped with:

  • Immunomagnetic and flow-based cell sorting systems
  • G-Rex compatible culture systems
  • CRF with LN storage
  • Automated fluorescent and confocal microscopy
  • 19-colour flow cytometry
  • Molecular diagnostics with NGS, RT-PCR, and Digital PCR platforms
  • Immunogenetics

The Institutes research and clinical programs are supported by a multidisciplinary team engaged in cell therapy, cancer biology, single-cell omics, and bioinformatics.

Academic Leadership

The program is led by:

Prof. (Dr.) Suparno Chakrabarti, Dr. Sarita Jaiswal, and Dr. Mahak Agarwal, pioneers in T-cell costimulation–manipulated haploidentical BMT and NK cell–based immunotherapy.

The team has also developed novel NK-based post-transplant cellular therapy for refractory leukemia.

Program Overview

  • Duration: 2 years (extendable by up to 3 years upon enrolment in a PhD program)
  • Focus: Comprehensive exposure to clinical and laboratory aspects of BMT, with intensive academic training in Transplant Immunology
  • Opportunities: Extensive hands-on experience and scope for independent research projects in collaboration with translational and laboratory teams

Eligibility Criteria

  • MD in Medicine, Pediatrics, or Pathology (with 2 years' experience in clinical medicine) and

    3 years' experience in Clinical Hematology / Pediatric Hematology, OR
  • DM (Hematology) with 1 year's experience in Bone Marrow Transplantation
  • The acceptance in this program is via an evaluation system assessing the aptitude for understanding of Transplant Immunology.
