Concept & Preproduction Artist – Hybrid Workflow Specialist

Job Summary:

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and exceptionally dedicated Concept & Preproduction Artist to define the visual direction for our creative projects. This role is ideal for talented artists — from emerging professionals to mid-level specialists — who are eager to gain valuable, high-end production credits. Whether you specialize in traditional digital painting or leverage modern AI tools for rapid ideation, your focus must be on delivering outstanding, production-ready artwork fast. We prize fundamental skill and efficiency above all else.

Nature of Work and Core Responsibilities

The work demands both creative visualization and technical documentation, with a strong emphasis on speed and quality of execution.

• Visual Ideation: Translate scripts, written briefs, and creative direction from the leadership team into compelling visual concepts for characters, environments, props, and key frame moments.
• Core Art Execution: Produce detailed concept sketches, refined digital paintings, and colour keys that establish the final aesthetic, mood, and lighting for entire sequences.
• Production Blueprinting: Create precise specification sheets and detailed character/prop turnarounds with material call-outs and dimensions, ensuring that 3D modelers and other departments can execute your vision accurately.
• Workflow Flexibility: You will be encouraged to utilize the most efficient tools available to meet demanding schedules. This includes:
• Conventional Workflow: Working from scratch using pure digital painting and photo-bashing techniques.
• AI Integration: Leveraging Generative AI platforms for mood inspiration and initial composition ideas, followed by expert-level manual cleanup and over-painting to achieve final polish and ensure artistic ownership.
• Collaboration & Revision: Proactively receive and implement creative notes and direction, executing rapid revisions to designs until final approval is met.

Software Proficiency and Tools to Know

Proficiency in the core digital painting software is mandatory, with supplemental tools valued for efficiency.

• Digital Painting Core: Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop is essential for all final stages of art production, cleanup, and compositing.
• 3D Blocking Tools: Functional knowledge of Blender or SketchUp to quickly block out scenes, check perspective, and establish camera angles for complex environments.
• AI/Sketching Tools (Highly Valued): Experience using rapid sketching software, or familiarity with Generative AI platforms for non-final, inspirational ideation, is a strong advantage.

• Rapid Execution: Proven ability to manage a high volume of work and deliver high-quality sketches and final concepts quickly under tight deadlines.
• Adaptability & Tool Agnostic: Willingness to learn new workflows and integrate any tool (AI or manual) that speeds up the creative process while maintaining artistic integrity.
• Portfolio Driven: A desire to create exceptional work that will earn significant production credits and build an industry-leading portfolio.
• Receptivity to Feedback: A humble and professional attitude toward critique, with the drive to immediately implement revisions without conflict.

Salary: It will be decided as per your expertise and skillset
