General Manager – Retail
Location: Hyderabad (Base Location) — with frequent travel across India
About the Role
Seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager – Retail Operations to lead and oversee its pan-India retail network of 40 stores. The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, operational excellence, and strong leadership to drive growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction across all retail channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Development
Lead and manage four Zonal Managers overseeing multiple clusters of stores.
Coach and mentor Zonal, Cluster, and Store Managers to enhance leadership and operational capabilities.
Implement training programs to promote skill development and build a strong talent pipeline.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and motivation.
- Strategic Business Growth
Identify new business opportunities, including market expansion and store openings.
Develop actionable business plans aligned with organizational goals.
Strengthen vendor and landlord partnerships for effective leasing and expansion.
Monitor market trends and competitor activities to ensure brand competitiveness.
- Operational Excellence
Oversee daily operations across all stores to ensure standardized processes and compliance.
Establish and track KPIs for zones, clusters, and stores.
Conduct operational audits and address performance challenges promptly.
Ensure adherence to company policies, inventory standards, and safety protocols.
- Financial & P&L Management
Take complete ownership of P&L performance, driving profitability and cost optimization.
Analyze financial statements to identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions.
Manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and set financial targets for each zone.
- Merchandising & Inventory Control
Collaborate with merchandising teams to design region-specific assortments.
Maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize shrinkage and wastage.
Ensure timely stock replenishment and effective inventory management across stores.
- Customer Experience Management
Drive customer-centric initiatives to strengthen brand loyalty and satisfaction.
Oversee customer feedback processes and ensure timely resolution of issues.
Lead in-store promotions and seasonal campaigns to increase footfall and sales.
- Travel & Field Engagement
Conduct regular store visits to review performance and operational standards.
Provide on-ground leadership support to zonal and cluster teams.
Represent the brand at key business meetings and events.
Qualifications & Competencies
Experience: 8–10 years in senior retail leadership, managing multi-store or regional operations.
Leadership: Proven ability to manage large teams and drive performance.
Strategic Thinking: Strong business acumen with data-driven decision-making skills.
Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, and financial management.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Travel: Willingness to travel extensively across India.
Personality: Energetic, organized, goal-oriented, and proactive with a growth mindset.
