Job Summary

We are seeking a Freelance Proofreader with a keen eye for detail to verify and correct digitized versions of handwritten documents. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure absolute accuracy in transcription, grammar, punctuation, and formatting, and maintaining fidelity to the original content.

This is a remote freelance role, best suited for meticulous individuals with prior proofreading experience and a strong command of written English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully compare handwritten content with its digital counterpart to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Identify and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and alignment issues.
  • Verify the consistency of tone, structure, and style.
  • Spot transcription errors in numbers, symbols, and special characters.
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years in proofreading, transcription, or content quality assurance.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics, Journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred).

  • Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and proofreading tools.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting various types of handwritten text.
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with OCR/document digitization tools is a plus.
