
High-Voltage Safety Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious High-Voltage Safety Engineer to lead and support all aspects of high-voltage system safety across development, testing, and production. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in high-voltage electrical systems (60V DC / 30V AC), regulatory standards, risk analysis, and implementation of safety protocols for electric vehicles, battery packs, or energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, implement, and maintain high-voltage safety procedures, guidelines, and work instructions for design, testing, and assembly environments.
- Perform hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies (FMEA, HARA, FTA).
- Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO 6469, IEC 60664, IEC 61508, ISO 26262, UL 2202).
- Oversee the design review of high-voltage systems, such as batteries, inverters, converters, charging systems, and busbars, to ensure proper insulation, grounding, and fault tolerance.
- Supervise or conduct Hi-Pot testing, insulation resistance testing, continuity, and grounding verification.
- Develop and monitor safe working procedures for handling live HV components in R&D, testing, and manufacturing setups.
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis involving HV systems.
- Interface with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and internal/external auditors.
- Maintain documentation of safety test reports, hazard analyses, and compliance checklists.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of electrical safety concepts, creepage & clearance, touch protection, and safe disconnect mechanisms.
Proficiency in standards such as:
ISO EV safety requirements)
- ISO Functional Safety)
- IEC 60664, UL 2202, IEC 61508
OSHA / NFPA 70E or equivalent (for industrial safety)
Experience with FMEA, HARA, FTA, and other safety engineering tools.
