Purpose - Why does this role exist?
The Deputy Manager Quality (Turbine) is responsible for ensuring quality assurance and control across all turbine-related activities during erection and commissioning phases of the thermal power project. This role ensures adherence to OEM specifications, statutory codes, and internal quality benchmarks. The incumbent will coordinate with contractors, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to ensure defect-free execution and readiness for commissioning.
Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators)
Quality Assurance for Turbine Systems
Ensure compliance with QAPs, ITPs, and OEM specifications for HP/IP/LP turbines and auxiliaries.
Inspection & Testing
Conduct and supervise NDT, dimensional checks, alignment verification, and material traceability.
OEM Coordination
Interface with turbine OEMs (e.g., Siemens, GE, BHEL) for quality documentation, NCR resolution, and inspection protocols.
Statutory Compliance
Ensure adherence to IBR, CEA, and Factory Act requirements during turbine erection and commissioning.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain inspection records, quality dossiers, punch lists, and support commissioning documentation.
Defect Prevention & Resolution
Identify potential quality risks early and implement corrective/preventive actions in coordination with site teams.
Audit & Review
Support internal and external audits, and ensure closure of audit findings related to turbine quality.
Educational Background and Work Experience
- Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering - Work Experience:
Minimum 10 to15 years of experience in turbine erection quality assurance in large-scale thermal power projects (preferably above 500 MW units), with hands-on exposure to OEM interfaces and statutory inspections.
Skills Required
- Expertise in turbine erection quality protocols
- Familiarity with OEM manuals and QAPs
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and quality documentation tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of statutory codes: IBR, CEA, Factory Act
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
