Job Description

Position: General Manager-Marketing and Merchandising

Location: Bangalore

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Marketing & Business Development

  2. Identify and develop new business opportunities in international markets for 100% woven fabric casual shirts.

  3. Conduct in-depth market analysis to target high-value customers and identify new product segments.
  4. Build strong, long-term client relationships through consistent engagement and value-added services.

  5. Client & Brand Management

  6. Act as the primary liaison between international brands and internal teams.

  7. Maintain and expand key accounts by understanding brand requirements, seasonal calendars, and brand DNA.
  8. Oversee costing, sampling, negotiations, and order execution while ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to quality standards.

  9. Product Development & Merchandising Oversight

  10. Lead the development of woven casual shirt collections based on seasonal trends, brand briefs, and fabric innovations.

  11. Collaborate with design, R&D, and production teams to align products with client expectations.
  12. Monitor all merchandising processes, including sampling, T&A, production tracking, and shipment planning.

  13. Fabric & Technical Expertise

  14. Provide strategic input on sourcing woven fabrics (yarn-dyed, solid dyed, and printed materials).

  15. Partner with mills and suppliers to ensure quality, innovation, and cost efficiency.
  16. Guide the team on fabric selection, garment construction, trims, and wash techniques for casual shirts.

  17. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  18. Lead and mentor the merchandising and marketing team, fostering a high-performance, client-centric culture.

  19. Ensure seamless coordination with design, production, QA/QC, and logistics for efficient workflow.
  20. Track KPIs, sales performance, and operational efficiency across all active accounts.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or Business Management.
  • 15+ years of proven experience in woven apparel marketing & merchandising with international exposure.
  • Hands-on experience with major global brands such as GANT, Marc O'Polo, US Polo, Balmain Paris, etc.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a strategic mindset to scale business.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of woven fabrics, casual shirt manufacturing, and global compliance standards.
