We are looking to expand the in-house expertise in Data Technology and we need talented and skilled colleagues to implement data solutions using latest technologies conforming to the best in class design standard & agreed requirements

As a Data Designer, you will work closely with our data architects, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into logical and physical data products. You will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our data products, as well as maintaining their documentation and metadata. Your expertise in data modelling tools and techniques, as well as your ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, will be critical to the success of our data-driven projects.

Primary Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 KRA)

  • Develop and maintain complex data products for business data analysis and reporting purposes as per the new data mesh principles - a decentralized architecture that helps organizations scale analytics and data-driven decision making

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate data products that align with business needs

  • Evaluate and recommend data modelling tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy of data modelling processes

  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories to ensure consistency and integrity of data models

  • Identify and resolve data product performance issues to optimize performance and enhance overall system functionality

  • Document and communicate data product designs and standards to ensure understanding and compliance across the organization

  • Stay current with industry best practices and trends in data modelling and incorporate new techniques and methodologies into our data modelling processes.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Strong understanding of SQL and data modelling and modern day data product concepts

  • Proficiency in data modelling tools such as Erwin or PowerDesigner

  • Ability to create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models

  • Familiarity with cloud based ETL processes with medallion architectures, expertise on data mesh principles, Lakehouse architecture etc

  • Knowledge of industry best practices for data modelling / data product design

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse data requirements

  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills (Must Have) :

  • SQL proficiency, Data Modelling tools, ETL Data warehousing, Lakehouse
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of platform technology
  • Comprehensive understanding of the IT environment
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken

Experience:

  • Solid and relevant experience, in and outside the UK / Europe
  • Experience of working in regulatory environments – especially life and pensions
  • Experience of implementing Data product / Data Models on cloud
  • Experience of working for Data Analytics platforms and design the product as per data strategy and business requirement
  • Proven experience on Data Mesh & other data architecture principles
  • Proven business analysis & requirement elicitation skills to feed into data design
  • Strong experience on understanding business domain quickly, business scenarios, data scenarios, data profiling, etc
  • Strong people management and communication skills and a mindset focused on ensuring our stakeholders get the best levels of service.

Educational Qualification:

  • Graduate/Post-graduate. Preferably with specialisation in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering or related discipline
