Job description:
Responsible for planning and designing of the electrical engineering aspects of solar power projects, including but not limited to site assessments, shadow analysis, preparation of layouts, SLD, cable sizing calculation, earthing calculation, component selection, system design, design and selection of switchgears, SCADA, design of plant end switch yards, transmission lines and design of remote end switch yard ensuring compliance with industry standards, all relevant codes and local regulations.
Software Skills:
Required: MS Office, AutoCAD and Sketchup
Optional: ETAP will be considered as an advantage
Standards & Codes:
Knowledge of all relevant Indian Standards / IEC / Codes for electrical design.
Site Assessment and Planning:
Evaluation of site conditions through physical visits to site for capacity analysis, shadow analysis, review and study of Topographical survey, Contour mapping, transmission line routes, Grid substation visit, identify potential challenges / opportunities and impact of environmental factors.
Layout Design and Preparation:
Analysis and determination of optimum array tilt and row-to-row pitch considering various aspects like, gain in energy due to optimum tilt, optimum pitch to keep shadow losses minimum and optimisation of land and cable lengths.
Good knowledge and hand-on experience in preparation of various layouts viz; Solar Plant GA layout, stringing layout, earthing layout, switch yard layout, SCADA layout / architecture drawing etc
Electrical SLD:
Should possess good knowledge and hands-on experience in preparation of AC and DC single line
diagrams with proper component selection and accurate calculation and sizing / rating of all components.
LV / HV System Design
Expertise in electrical calculations and design of DC, LV and HV system with electrical calculation of cable sizes, bus bar ratings, CT, PT, circuit breakers, Isolators, LA's, Earthing system, Control and relay panels and metering etc.
Transmission line & Switch yard Design:
Expertise in transmission line design including conductor sizing, design of switch yard (both solar plant end and Grid Sub-station end) short circuit force calculations, all electrical calculations and design of entire system in accordance with all the relevant electrical grid codes / Indian standards / IEC / local regulations / DISCOM / TRANSCO / CEIG norms etc.
Collaboration for Authority Approvals:
Should interact and work closely with internal and external stake holders in seeking authority approvals for the commissioning and smooth operation of the plant.
Pre-Bid and Tendering Support:
Preparation of drawings, bill of quantities & design calculations for Pre-Bid and tendering purposes.
Good for construction & As Built drawings:
Should guide the draftsman in preparation of "GFC" drawings / Manufacturing drawings and should review before seeking approval from Head of Engineering.
Responsible for preparation of "As Built" drawings in collaboration with the project team to capture all the modifications arising during construction or post commissioning of the plant prior to handover.
Site Visits:
Will be required to make a couple of visits to project site to resolve any technical issues / guide the
construction team.
Collaboration and teamwork:
Should collaborate and work closely with external and internal stake holders like Business development, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, Safety and Project teams to achieve the organisational goals.
