Your role and responsibilities
Our Team
The Vault Radar engineering organization builds and operates Hashicorp IBM's secret scanning platform across SaaS, agent, and CLI. We create a product which integrates with Vault and 3rd party data sources in order to scan for secrets and assist with remediation.
About the Role
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of 7-10 engineers responsible for the backend, infrastructure, and integration components of Vault Radar. The group includes five backend engineers, two SREs, and additional resources focused on building and maintaining integrations. You will drive roadmap execution, guide architecture and design decisions, and ensure operational excellence across SaaS and on-prem environments. The role requires balancing technical depth with people leadership and close coordination with product, SRE, engineering teams.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and grow a team of seven engineers across backend, integrations, and SRE disciplines
- Set technical direction and oversee design reviews and system architecture decisions
- Partner with product management to plan quarterly objectives and track delivery
- Ensure high-quality releases, observability, and reliability across SaaS and on-prem deployments
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and performance for the engineering team
- Cultivate a culture of accountability, learning, and iterative improvement
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred education
Master's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Have 7-10 years of experience in software engineering, including 3 or more in technical leadership or management
- Understand distributed systems and modern cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, Docker, Nomad)
- Are experienced with Golang or Python and familiar with observability and CI/CD systems
- Have experience with hybrid delivery models spanning SaaS and on-prem environments
- Communicate effectively across engineering, product, and customer organizations
- Focus on outcomes, team development, and operational stability
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Have familiarity with HashiCorp/IBM Products and Services
