Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operation Theatre Nurse to join our surgical team. The OT Nurse plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, assisting surgeons during operations, and providing post-operative care. The ideal candidate should have strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-operative Duties:

  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and the operating room in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Review patient medical histories, surgical plans, and ensure informed consent is in place.
  • Assist with patient positioning and anesthesia preparation under supervision of anesthesiologists and surgeons.

Intra-operative Duties (Scrub & Circulating Nurse):

  • Scrub Nurse: Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating surgeon needs.
  • Circulating Nurse: Manage supplies, equipment, and documentation during surgery; serve as a liaison between the surgical team and external departments.
  • Monitor patient vitals and comfort levels throughout the procedure.
  • Ensure accurate count of instruments, sponges, and needles to prevent retained surgical items.

Post-operative Duties:

  • Provide post-operative care, including transferring patients to recovery rooms and updating patient records.
  • Monitor for signs of complications and communicate effectively with recovery and ward teams.
  • Assist in cleaning and preparing the OT for the next procedure.

Administrative & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed nursing documentation.
  • Adhere to all hospital protocols, infection control standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in audits, training programs, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations
