Role Overview :

Synoptek is seeking an experienced Cognos Developer to join our global Business Intelligence team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining backend reporting solutions using IBM Cognos Analytics. You will work closely with BI analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to enhance enterprise reporting capabilities through scalable, efficient, and high-quality Cognos data models and reports.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain Cognos Framework Manager models, data modules, and reports.

- Optimize SQL queries and data models for improved performance and data accuracy.

- Support and enhance existing Cognos reports, dashboards, and data integrations.

- Collaborate with business and analytics teams to translate requirements into technical specifications.

- Troubleshoot report performance issues and production incidents in a 24x7 global environment.

- Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all reporting assets.

- Maintain detailed documentation of all developments, changes, and maintenance activities.

- Participate in change control, release management, and support processes.

Qualifications :

years of hands-on experience in IBM Cognos backend development and support.

- Strong proficiency in Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, and Query Studio.

- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2).

- Experience in maintaining and modernizing legacy Cognos environments.

- Working knowledge of version control tools and ticketing systems (Git, ServiceNow, Jira).

Nice to Have :

- Experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Informatica, etc.) or data integration workflows.

- Exposure to Power BI or similar visualization platforms.

- Domain knowledge in Transportation & Logistics or related industries.

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging abilities.

- Effective written and verbal communication across global teams.

- Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality and process excellence.

- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality solutions under deadlines.
