Atrean is a US-focused AI startup building the rails that help financial companies turn messy, fast-moving data into trustworthy, real-time decisions.

We're early, and assembling a world-class team in Bengaluru to build v1 → v10.

The Role

As our Founding Engineer, you'll own zero-to-one product and platform decisions, write a ton of production code, and put in place the engineering practices that define Atrean's DNA. You'll ship quickly, talk to customers, and scale what works. If you're excited by ambiguous problems, data plumbing, and crafting delightful APIs, you'll love this.

What you'll do

  • Design and build core services: data ingestion, normalization, matching, and real-time scoring.
  • Create clean, well-documented APIs used by US fintechs and enterprise data teams.
  • Own end-to-end features from product discovery and architecture to testing, observability, and deployment.
  • Stand up a reliable data stack (streaming + batch), with strong SLAs and cost awareness.
  • Set engineering standards (code quality, security, CI/CD, on-call) and influence the product roadmap.
  • Work directly with customers to validate use cases and iterate quickly based on feedback.
  • Help hire and mentor the next wave of engineers; grow into a VP/CTO track as we scale.

What you'll bring

  • 2–8+ years building production systems (we're flexible for exceptional folks).
  • Strength in 
    at least two
     of: backend (Node/TypeScript, Go, or Python), data engineering (Kafka/SQS, Airflow, Spark), storage (Postgres/OLAP/Snowflake), distributed systems, or API/platform engineering.
  • Solid cloud fundamentals (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers (Docker/K8s), infra-as-code, monitoring, and testing.
  • Product mindset: you care about customer outcomes, not just tickets.
  • Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data modeling, and system design.
  • Security and reliability instincts—especially valuable in regulated environments (KYC/AML/PCI).
  • Excellent written & verbal communication; comfortable collaborating across time zones.

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech/data products (payments, banking, credit, fraud/risk, identity).
  • Familiarity with US data providers, processors, or compliance workflows.
  • Prior early-stage or founding-team experience.
  • Building SDKs/CLIs, developer documentation, or data contracts.
