Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

  • Conduct routine inspections of steel plants, including furnaces, rolling mills, and material handling areas, to identify potential hazards.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks associated with high-temperature processes, heavy machinery, and toxic substances.

Safety Training and Awareness

  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors on topics like PPE usage, fire safety, and emergency response.
  • Organize toolbox talks focusing on job-specific risks such as crane operations, confined spaces, and working at heights.

Incident Management

  • Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and unsafe incidents to determine root causes and develop preventive strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports on incidents and follow up on corrective actions.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for fire outbreaks, gas leaks, or other critical incidents specific to the steel industry.
  • Coordinate and lead mock drills to ensure employee readiness during emergencies.

Safety Audits and Monitoring

  • Conduct regular audits of machinery, equipment, and work processes to ensure safety standards are maintained.
  • Monitor air quality, noise levels, and heat stress conditions in compliance with occupational health standards.
  • Environmental Safety
  • Oversee waste management, emissions control, and safe handling of hazardous materials like slag and gases.
  • Collaborate with environmental officers to minimize the industrys environmental impact.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive records of safety audits, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Provide monthly and annual reports on safety performance metrics and key safety indicators (e.g., LTIR Lost Time Injury Rate).
