Department: Manufacturing / Operations Reports To: Plant Head / Director of Operations

Role Summary The Production Manager oversees all aspects of metal fabrication operations, ensuring efficient workflow, quality output, and timely delivery. This role demands hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and strategic planning to meet production targets while maintaining safety and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning & Execution
    • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
    • Allocate resources and assign tasks to meet delivery timelines.
    • Monitor progress and adjust plans to avoid bottlenecks.

  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and train fabrication staff, welders, machine operators, and fitters.
    • Enforce discipline, safety protocols, and performance standards.
    • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to fabrication standards, tolerances, and specifications.
    • Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections and corrective actions.
    • Maintain compliance with ISO, OSHA, and other regulatory norms.

  • Technical Oversight
    • Interpret engineering drawings and fabrication blueprints.
    • Guide teams on welding techniques, sheet metal work, and CNC operations.
    • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.

  • Inventory & Cost Management
    • Collaborate with purchase and stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
    • Control wastage and optimize material usage.
    • Track production costs and implement cost-saving measures.

  • Client & Cross-functional Coordination
    • Liaise with design, procurement, and logistics teams.
    • Provide production updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Support project planning and execution for custom fabrication jobs.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Deep knowledge of metalworking processes (cutting, welding, bending, machining)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and production tracking tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and 5S practices
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Production
