Key Responsibilities :

  1. Governance Strategy & Stakeholder Alignment :

  2. Develop and maintain enterprise data governance strategies, policies, and standards.

  3. Align governance with business goals : compliance, analytics, and decision-making.

  4. Collaborate across business, IT, legal, and compliance teams for role alignment.

  5. Drive governance training, awareness, and change management programs.

  6. Microsoft Purview Administration & Implementation :

  7. Manage Microsoft Purview accounts, collections, and RBAC aligned to org structure.

  8. Optimize Purview setup for large-scale environments (50TB+).

  9. Integrate with Azure Data Lake, Synapse, SQL DB, Power BI, Snowflake.

  10. Schedule scans, set classification jobs, and maintain collection hierarchies.

  11. Metadata & Lineage Management :

  12. Design metadata repositories and maintain business glossaries and data dictionaries.

  13. Implement ingestion workflows via ADF, REST APIs, PowerShell, Azure Functions.

  14. Ensure lineage mapping (ADF ? Synapse ? Power BI) and impact analysis.

  15. Data Classification & Security Governance :

  16. Define classification rules and sensitivity labels (PII, PCI, PHI).

  17. Integrate with MIP, DLP, Insider Risk Management, and Compliance Manager.

  18. Enforce records management, lifecycle policies, and information barriers.

  19. Data Quality & Policy Management :

  20. Define KPIs and dashboards to monitor data quality across domains.

  21. Collaborate on rule design, remediation workflows, and exception handling.

  22. Ensure policy compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.) and risk management.

  23. Business Glossary & Stewardship :

  24. Maintain business glossary with domain owners and stewards in Purview.

  25. Enforce approval workflows, standard naming, and steward responsibilities.

  26. Conduct metadata audits for glossary and asset documentation quality.

  27. Automation & Integration :

  28. Automate governance processes using PowerShell, Azure Functions, Logic Apps.

  29. Create pipelines for ingestion, lineage, glossary updates, tagging.

  30. Integrate with Power BI, Azure Monitor, Synapse Link, Collibra, BigID, etc.

  31. Monitoring, Auditing & Compliance :

  32. Set up dashboards for audit logs, compliance reporting, metadata coverage.

  33. Oversee data lifecycle management across its phases.

  34. Support internal and external audit readiness with proper documentation.
