Job Title: Financial Analyst

The Opportunity

This role offers exposure across market research, competition tracking, regulatory monitoring, and business planning, providing a comprehensive view of the higher education landscape. It involves financial and commercial analysis, investment thesis development, and MIS tracking, directly contributing to strategic decision-making. The opportunity is ideal for someone with strong corporate finance/strategy experience, analytical rigour, and the ability to convert data into actionable insights while engaging senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Market Research:

  • Tracking trends in Higher Education across Demand sources (what do employers want, which industries are hiring, skills, salaries, cities, etc)
  • Tracking trends in Higher Education across Supply sources (who is winning on the Supply side, partnerships, content & program differentiation, cities, etc)
  • Tracking announcements in Higher Ed by new players (partnerships, organic, etc)

Relevant Competition of Acumen:

  • Keeping track of relevant offerings - direct and indirect competitors
  • The Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing financial reports, and supporting financial planning processes. Tasks will include the following -
  • Analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports.
  • Support financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
  • Evaluate financial performance and provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparing strategic recommendations to improve financial outcomes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Expertise in Financial Planning and knowledge of Finance principles
  • Strong Analytical Skills for evaluating and interpreting financial data
  • Proficiency in understanding and analyzing Financial Statements
  • Experience in Financial Reporting and preparing reports for stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • MS Excel (intermediate to advanced)
  • Strong research & analytical ability (market, financial & commercial data)
  • Solid understanding of P&L, cash flow & investment metrics
  • Strategic thinking with ability to derive actionable insights
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Stakeholder management & collaboration with senior leaders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail
