Job Title: NPD Engineer

Industry & Domain: Non Automotive Division

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead New Product Development (NPD) activities in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Execute APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) procedures.
  • Define and establish process flow, machining sequence, and tool selection for new components.
  • Develop and validate CNC programs for turning, milling, gear hobbing, and other machining operations.
  • Prepare all Product Development Documentation, including FAI (First Article Inspection) Reports.
  • Oversee sample production and first batch production to ensure process stability and product conformity.
  • Conduct process capability studies (Cp, Cpk) to verify process performance and consistency.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting during development, both in-house and at the supplier end.
  • Review and approve cycle times for new and existing operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on:
  • Production cycle time reduction
  • Tool life enhancement
  • Product safety improvements
  • Implementation of Poka-Yoke (error-proofing) techniques
  • Manage Production Planning and Control (PPC) for new product launches.

Required Competencies

  • Educational Qualification:

Diploma / Graduate / Postgraduate in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience:

Minimum 10 years of experience in New Product Development within an ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 certified machining company.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in CNC machine setting and programming (Turning, Milling, Gear Hobbing, Grinding).
  • Exposure to special processes such as Heat Treatment, Plating, and Surface Coating.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and tooling optimization.
  • Proficiency in threading processes — NPT, ANPT, ACME, etc.
  • Additional Skills:
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Strong documentation and process control discipline
  • Team leadership and cross-functional coordination
