Power Plant

The Power Plant -Operations Head will be responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the boiler house and power plant at Allianz DistilleryLtd. This includes the biomass-fired boiler (69 TPH, 65 kg/cm, 480C), 3 MW turbine generator, water treatment plant, fuel handling system, and related auxiliaries. The role ensures maximum uptime, optimal fuel mix, and lowest steam generation cost while meeting statutory compliance and safety norms. Candidate should have rich experience in biomass such as parali, mustard husk, etc.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure boiler operates at committed efficiency (>75%) and maintain optimum steam parameters.Achieve targeted steam-to-fuel ratio through proper fuel blend management (rice husk, mustard husk, prali, wood chips).Supervise turbine operations to maximize power generation and minimize auxiliary consumption.Monitor flue gas temperatures, Oxygen levels, and implement corrective actions to avoid clinker formation.Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedule for boiler, TG set, and auxiliaries.Plan and oversee annual shutdowns, ensuring minimum downtime.Conduct root cause analysis of breakdowns and implement permanent solutions.Possess deep knowledge of biomass fuels including rice husk, mustard husk, prali, sawdust, wood chips, and agro-waste briquettes, including GCV, moisture, and ash fusion characteristics.Optimize blend ratio to reduce clinker formation and maintain continuous 3040 day boiler run cycles.Recommend pre-processing (screening/sieving) to remove sand, silica, or foreign matter.Work with procurement team to ensure correct seasonal stocking and cost control.Ensure adherence to IBR norms, statutory inspections, and boiler certifications.Maintain safety systems: pressure relief valves, interlocks, emergency shutdown systems.Train boiler operators on safe operating practices and emergency preparedness.Monitor and report steam cost per ton, specific power consumption, and auxiliary power ratio.Ensure accurate fuel accounting and coordinate with HO for MIS submissions.Identify opportunities for efficiency improvement and fuel cost reduction.Lead boiler operators, turbine operators, and shift engineers; develop skill enhancement programs.Qualification & Experience:-Education: First-Class Boiler Competency Certificate (mandatory) + B.E./Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical preferred.Experience: 15-20 years of experience in utility operations, with at least 5 years leading a power plant/boiler team in ethanol/chemical/paper/food process industry.
