Lab Technician

Role & responsibilities

• Receive, catalogue, and prepare samples, and perform testing on prepared samples
• Handle biochemical substances carefully and according to study parameters
• Clean and set up laboratory equipment, monitor inventory and supplies, and ensure overall laboratory cleanliness
• Record detailed observations and notes pertaining to sample collection and/or any ongoing studies
• Greenhouse Maintenance
• Managing Laboratory activities, making distilled water, repair of equipment.
• Additional participation in departmental work/activities.

Preferred candidate profile

• Demonstrable ability to perform molar calculations, media preparations.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage several project and prioritize time and resources according to department goals.
• Ability to follow detailed, multistep, written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent in computer work (MS Word, Excel, power point, Internet surfing).
• Ability to perform planting, maintaining, and evaluating plants for their growth and other traits.
