Purpose of the job:

1. It is the ambition of Nuvoco to speed-up Innovation and research through partnerships around construction systems, especially in emerging markets which are key stakes for Nuvoco It is simultaneously important to promote our central innovations and to build upon our know-how expertise (technological platforms) to answer specific local needs.

2. Leading and pursuing the research work on development of newer and improved building materials viz Construction Chemicals, Polymers & Adhesives, Blocks & Bricks, Paints and other Cementitious materials.

3. CDIC is built to bring innovation and developments closer to markets. To innovate locally through the development of products and construction systems. It has 5 main tasks:

4. To Benchmark and analyze performance of both new/existing products and innovative competitors alternatives.

5. To Experiment in-house innovative materials, products & systems in a framework of system performance evaluation.
6. To Demonstrate that developed innovative materials, products & systems meet design expectations and could ultimately achieve jobsite/market acceptance.
7. To Create value for the cement industry out of our innovative materials, products and systems.

8. Build partnership at all levels of construction industry and academics.

9. Given this context, it is expected that this AGM will execute the research projects for CDIC's deliverables. The AGM will direct the day-to-day project activity through interaction with technical personnel while gathering, analyzing and interpreting scientific data. This role requires proven scientific /technical skills as a professional in the field of Cement, Concrete and Cement based material science or related fields including, consulting, leadership, and collaboration working with a team of professionals. The manager will work closely with technicians and report directly to the head of CDIC. He is expected to develop a strong building material expertise for Nuvoco.

Job Description:

• Research and develop new products as per new pipeline identified through brainstorming & other ideation tools and techniques.
• Identify and implement the cost optimization through alternative / substitute raw materials and strategic source development in close collaboration with cross functional departments. Cost optimization by reformulation.
• Provide technical support for successful implementation and transfer of newly developed products. Resolve product quality related issues.
• Set up QC specifications of newly developed products & co-ordinate with the production team for proper manufacturing.
• Visit plants / sites for product testing and trials at lab and industrial scales.
• Update, maintain and evolve calibration data for all laboratory equipment as per laboratory calibration plan and all NABL related activities and audits.
• Taking part in new/alternate vendor development for the enhancement of product quality and cost reduction
• Troubleshooting support the technical, QC and operations team as and when required.
• Be proactive in identifying safety hazards and implement corrective actions. Responsible for internal EHS activities and audit requirements.
• Train and guide cement laboratory technicians on all test procedures in accordance to acceptable and established test methods.
• Keep appropriate records and necessary reports. Prioritize the workload of team members on a weekly basis. Train and coach direct reports to improve their working efficiency, and quality of data.
• Develop methods and techniques to continually improve quality and consistency of results
• Safeguarding confidential information & complying with Nuvoco policies.
• Set up good teamworkwell coordination with R&D team and support functions.
• Solving Cement Cement quality related issues faced in the market or process issues at the plants.
• To keep up to date with the state of art and implement the learnings in the field of cement, concrete and building materials by studying the scientific, technical and patent literature.
• To drive sustainability related projects to reduce CO2 emission and achieve annual targets for the organization by working on promising low carbon Cements, alternate raw materials.
• Also develop innovative experimental solutions for ongoing circularity programs and products at Nuvoco.
• Collaborate with national and international centers of excellence and govt. agencies to drive mutually beneficial research projects

Experience:

• Ph.D & 5 years Relevant experience from reputed organization
• MSc/MTech & 8 years Relevant experience from reputed organization
• Experience in Cement manufacturing, Cement Chemistry, Cement Testing, Concrete Testing, Materials Characterization, Building Materials
• Good knowledge of relevant Codes and standards
• Exposure to Plant scale operations is an advantage
