POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Senior Buyer provides parts, equipment, and materials by developing sources of supply and monitoring supplier performance, obtaining required parts, equipment and materials, verifying receipt of items, authorizing payment, and managing and controlling inventory.

Principal Activities

• Receive and Review Purchase Requisition.
• Assists in purchase order acknowledgements (contract acceptance) with suppliers and updates
• Collect all cost information and do project costing, compare with Sales MC.
• Float Enquiries for non-standard products.
• Manages incoming shipment discrepancies with Receiving and/or suppliers.
• Authorizes procurement of inventory, tooling and MRO items within established signature authority guidelines.
• Set Target cost for project and hard negotiate to get at target cost.
• Establish KANBAN / Min-Max for recurring items and manage the same.
• Control inventory at targeted levels.
• Manage funds through enhanced credit terms
• Handle supplier related issues.
• Timely follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time receipt for assembly

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Understanding of overall materials flow and other functions linked to the Supply Chain.
• Price negotiation, price analysis, supplier selection.
• ERP knowledge:
• Extensive knowledge of inventory management concepts.
• High ethical standards. Models and supports organization's goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
• Uses time effectively, prioritizes and organizes workflow; can orchestrate multiple activities at once.
• Agility and personal adaptability with the ability to successfully management multiple priorities with a high sense of urgency in a rapidly changing environment.
• Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.

Education & Experience

• Education: Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical / Production
• Experience: Work experience of 5 years and above in handling plant supply chain activities.

Preferably in procurement activities related to Valve Castings, Machined castings, Forgings, Fittings, Bar stock, Outside machining and Fabrication. The candidate must have the below skills.

• Understand the role and company.
• Thorough knowledge on Machining, materials and other special processes.
• Able to review and understand the drawings.
• Machining feasibility and capability study.
• Cost working on Tools, Fixtures, machining hours, rate per hour etc.
• Fabrication knowledge on handling various grades of materials.
• Cost working on fabrication like consumables, man hours, rate per hour etc.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Good rapport with the suppliers for on-time delivery without any Quality defects.
