We are hiring for our client a leading Chemical Industry (MNC Company)

Position: Project Instrumentation Engineer

Exp: years

Qualification: B.E/B.Tech - Instrumentation & Electronic & Instrumentation

Location: Mettur

Job Summary:

Responsible for the execution, installation, calibration, and commissioning of instrumentation systems at site for both greenfield (new facility) and brownfield (plant expansion/modification) projects. Role includes managing contractor teams, coordinating with other departments, ensuring system integrity, and supporting DCS/PLC integration.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Execution & Supervision

  • Supervise installation and loop checking of field instruments: pressure, temperature, level, flow transmitters, control valves, analyzers, switches, etc.
  • Ensure proper routing, glanding, and termination of signal, power, and control cables.
  • Supervise erection of JB panels, marshaling panels, instrument air tubing, and instrument stands.

2. Greenfield & Brownfield Project Focus

  • For Greenfield Projects: Handle end-to-end instrumentation including DCS/PLC interfacing, ESD/SIS panels, and field instrument networks.
  • For Brownfield Projects: Plan and execute work in live plant environments, ensuring minimal process disruption and safe execution during hot jobs or tie-ins.

3. Coordination & Contractor Management

  • Work closely with vendors for FAT, SAT, and commissioning of control systems.
  • Coordinate with electrical and automation teams for signal integrity, cable tray routing, and control room interface.
  • Ensure timely availability of instruments, cables, supports, fittings, and calibration tools.

4. Calibration, Testing & Commissioning

  • Calibrate instruments using standard equipment and document as per ISO/QC systems.
  • Conduct loop checking, logic testing, and coordinate with DCS/PLC vendors for integration.
  • Support functional testing and pre-commissioning / commissioning documentation.

5. Safety, QA/QC & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to project specifications, datasheets, and safety norms (intrinsically safe, flameproof zones, etc.).
  • Maintain loop folders, red-line markup drawings, and instrument index updates.
  • Prepare and submit DPRs, checklists, inspection reports, and test certificates.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of process instrumentation and industrial automation (DCS, PLC, SIS).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and instrument datasheets.
  • Familiarity with ISA standards, hazardous area classification (ATEX/IECEx), and SIL systems.
  • Hands-on experience in calibration, loop testing, and fault diagnosis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and exposure to calibration tools (e.g., HART communicator, multifunction calibrators).
