**Job Description: Articled Assistant – Chartered Accountancy Firm (Bengaluru)

Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position for an Articled Assistant at a reputed 60+ year-old Chartered Accountancy firm based in Bengaluru. The firm is known for its legacy, professional ethics, and a strong culture of mentoring future Chartered Accountants. The role is designed to give the candidate comprehensive exposure to core areas of the CA curriculum, including auditing, taxation, accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and consultancy. The Articled Assistant will work closely with senior professionals, partners, and client teams, gaining hands-on experience in both practical and theoretical aspects relevant to the profession.

Key Responsibilities

1. Audit Assistance

• Assist in conducting statutory audits, tax audits, internal audits, and special audits across industries such as manufacturing, trading, services, NBFCs, and startups.

• Perform vouching, verification, analytical procedures, and detailed testing of financial statements and supporting documents.

• Participate in audit planning, risk assessment, sampling methodologies, and preparation of audit working papers.

• Support seniors in drafting audit reports, management commentaries, internal control observations, and recommendations for improving financial and operational processes.

• Ensure compliance with Standards on Auditing (SAs), Accounting Standards (AS), and applicable laws.

1. Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Assist in preparing and maintaining accounting records for clients using Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or other ERP tools.

• Help in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Support ledger scrutiny, bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable tracking, and month-end closing activities.

• Assist in implementing accounting best practices and ensuring adherence to standards.

• Work with clients to resolve discrepancies and clarify financial queries.

1. Taxation (Direct & Indirect)

• Support in preparing and filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for individuals, firms, companies, and other entities.

• Assist in preparation and filing of GST returns, reconciliation of GST data, and responses to GST notices.

• Work on TDS compliance including filing of quarterly TDS returns, reconciliation statements, and responding to mismatch issues.

• Assist seniors in tax planning activities and preparation of tax computation statements.

Assist seniors make representation and docuemtaion for appeal matters in various levels.

• Help in drafting replies to assessment proceedings, departmental notices, and follow-ups with tax authorities.

1. Regulatory & Compliance Support

• Assist in corporate compliance such as preparation of ROC filings, maintenance of statutory registers, and preparation of resolutions and minutes.

• Support in compliance related to FEMA, LLP Act, Partnership Act, and other regulatory frameworks.

• Track important statutory due dates and assist in ensuring timely client compliance.

Required Skills & Attributes

• Strong academic background and registration under the Chartered Accountancy Course.

• Basic understanding of accounting principles, taxation concepts, and auditing procedures.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and accounting software (training will be provided where needed).

• Good analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Willingness to learn, adapt, and take responsibility.

• Good communication skills—both written and verbal.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

• High level of integrity, work discipline, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Completed CA Intermediate (both groups or at least one group).

• Prior internship or practical exposure (not mandatory).

• Completed mandatory course designed by ICAi- orientation and ITT
