Position objective:

HUSK
is building a state of the art product development team for its BEEM business that will cater to customers in the residential solar rooftop sector. We are looking to hire a Senior Product system design engineer to build and develop premium solutions for residential solar rooftop installations.

A Product System Design Engineer is primarily responsible for turning conceptual product ideas into tangible prototypes that can be tested and ultimately mass-produced. This role involves a deep understanding of material properties, production costs, and the integration of new technology while adhering to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities Include:

· Collaborative brainstorming and ideation sessions with sales and project teams to identify design requirements and the scope of product projects

· Collaborating with research and development teams to incorporate usability and marketability into product designs.

· Ensure that all technical and aesthetic aspects of a product are considered.

· Understanding of regulatory guidelines to ensure all designs meet industry-specific compliance and safety standards.

· Designing and developing product prototypes using CAD software and 3D modelling.

· Analyse project goals and perform structural calculations, design structural elements of each project using computer software like AutoCAD, Revit, or RISA

· Detailed drafting of design plans, presenting technical drawings and design proposals to management teams.

· Simulation and analysis of design models to predict product performance under various conditions.

· Verify structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the airframe structural environment, characteristics, and performance of the product

· Leads development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design.

· Testing prototypes to refine design parameters and resolve any functionality issues.

· Documentation of design processes and adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.

· Make recommendations for materials to use and safety measures to be adhered

· Assessing the viability of production methods and materials to ensure product feasibility from an economic standpoint.

· Staying updated with the latest trends in design and manufacturing technology and integrating them into product designs.

· Coordination with manufacturing teams to implement production processes that are in line with the design specifications.

· Lead development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyses/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

· Quality assurance testing and troubleshooting post-production to resolve any issues before full-scale manufacture.

· Oversee project management, like tracking budgets and maintaining a database of projects and their progress

· Perform field visits and write reports detailing project viability and progress

· Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the analysis and repair efforts

· Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.

Requirements:

· Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

· 7+ years of hands-on, detailed product design experience

· Strong analytical skills with regard to mechanical engineering theory

· Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment

· Proficiency in 3D CAD (any modelling package)

· Basic GD&T knowledge and experience releasing 2D drawings

· Proficiency in performing tolerance analyses

· Working knowledge of FEA principles

· Practical experience working through DFM challenges with external vendors

· Wide knowledge of basic engineering materials and manufacturing processes

· Consumer electronics knowledge in a majority of these disciplines: industrial design, optics and lenses, cameras, sensors, displays, PCBs and flexes, silicon, antennas, batteries, thermals

· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams

· Creative problem solving, with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation

· Experience collaborating with Asian manufacturing facilities, specifically in high-volume mass production

· Some domestic and international travel will be required

· Strong technical background in structural design

· Proven drafting skills, exemplified by a portfolio of prior work

· Highly collaborative spirit and experience working in a team

· Experience with design software, like AutoCAD or Revit

· Project management experience

· Experience in a leadership role

· Experience with Finite Element Models (FEM)

· Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills

· Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran

· Experience performing Material Review Board assessments

Experience managing multiple priorities, tasks and people in a dynamic environment
